Cellist Tim Pizzichemi is an avid performer and instructor residing in Seattle, Washington. His depth of artistry, mettle, and skill through the medium of the cello has allotted him the honor of being among the current and future sculptors of the musical and cultural tapestry of the Pacific Northwest. Whether Mr. Pizzichemi is soloing with an orchestra or alone, sitting principal cellist of an orchestra, recording music for documentaries, passing on technical and artistic knowledge of centuries long, or playing chamber music with the keenest cohesiveness, the ultimate purpose of creating fine art remains his unwavering intention.
Mr. Pizzichemi began his studies at the age of five in his hometown of Seattle. The vibrant musical community of the city kindled and spurred Tim’s formation as an artist and instrumentalist, which propelled him on to receive substantial scholarships and honors at the University of Texas at Austin, Butler School of Music, under the tutelage of world renowned cellist Bion Tsang. Members of the Miró Quartet also nurtured his development in the fine intricacies of chamber music. His graduate work then brought him to Southern Methodist University under full scholarship, where Tim further studied the art of cello performance with internationally acclaimed cellist, Andrés Díaz. Cellists and pedagogues Barbara Balatero and Rajan Krishnaswami were also considerable influences in Mr. Pizzichemi’s musical upbringing.
Tim has performed across the country, from Seattle to Los Angeles, Dallas to Minneapolis, and Washington D.C. to Chicago. He has performed with orchestras in Texas such as the Round Rock Symphony and Plano Symphony, and among orchestras in his home region, including Lake Washington Symphony, Saratoga Chamber Orchestra, and Federal Way Symphony. Tim also enjoys performing with musicians of many different mediums and genres, including concertizing with the vocal ensemble reSound, who curated and presented the choral work, Annelies, based on the diary of Anne Frank. He also performs and collaborates with close colleagues in the area, such as the Skyros Quartet.
Tim can be found enjoying the scenery and natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest, hitting the weights, sipping espresso, cooking his favorite Italian food, reading interesting history and philosophy, and listening to all forms of music, whatever the weather may be in moody Seattle.
