Pizzichemi Cello Studio

Mr. Pizzichemi’s cello studio brings together a globalized collection of techniques, musical ideas, and cultures from diverse backgrounds of philosophies and traditions. This knowledge is backed up by Tim’s rich history of high-level performance in many different contexts and world class training from several sources. Tim is equally suited in preparing young cellists for conservatory as he is nurturing the musicianship of those who are pursuing lessons only for personal growth and enjoyment.

The Pizzichemi cello studio greatly values the endowment of the Suzuki method and its carefully laid out chronological studies for beginner and intermediate cellists. Tim utilizes many of the ideas that Mr. Suzuki etched into pedagogy of instrumental music and uses it in combination with influences from other significant cello pedagogues. Some of these masters are Aldo Parisot, Luigi Boccherini, Pierre Fournier, David Popper, Sebastian Lee, Pablo Casals, and Alwin Schroeder.

Part of Mr. Pizzichemi’s philosophy in lighting the way for future generations of musicians includes placing great emphasis on the human development of the student, including awareness of how music and art affects society in several ways. Not only is the artistic vibrancy of the student regarded with importance, but Tim also works to create an environment of supportive and open-minded intent in order to allow the student to feel they can mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and also ask questions. Mr. Pizzichemi believes this sort of energy is ultimately healthy for the maturation of a musician and artist, but he also emphasizes the vital coexistence of high goals, discipline, and focus at the same time.

Lessons are usually taught once a week, but sometimes bimonthly for specific situations. A studio recital is scheduled once every six months to a year, and the student’s participation is highly encouraged, but is entirely dependent on their comfort level performing in public. Below are the rates for various amounts of time, and information on the location of the studio . Please go to the contact page and fill out the form if there are any questions about private lessons.
